LAST MINUTE GIFT IDEAS {him+her}

*notes~ the space pen can write under water + upside down! the swiss army nife will always come in handy and the "campfire cologne" is a good laugh. all stefan approved, too!

matte lipstick /// flash tats /// handmade ring /// nail polish "mochachino"/// paperwhite bulbs /// perfume ~on sale! /// wine club /// patchouli candle

*notes~ i LOVE that handmade ring, i put a ring from the same shop on my xmas list. that perfume is heaven…a little bit of floral + earthy = perfection. paperwhite bulbs are a cold weather thing, and it's really fun to watch them grown. also, who doesn't love wine??…duh!

 record player /// concert tickets /// polaroid camera

*shopping for a couple doesn't have to be hard, think outside the box! we own that record player + love it…records are a great gift as well. you can never go wrong with some live music. and polaroids are instant happiness, try it!!!

HOT SPRINGS + TERLINGUA

the HOT SPRINGS are probably one of my favorite parts of Big Bend. they are located inside the park, on the River Road East side…where we wanted to stay this time, but the back country roads were washed out from all the rain. so we drove across the park to get our fresh water fix! worth it. apparently
the hot springs had been filled with silt a few days earlier, but they were back to normal for us…thank goodness!! you can tell how much water they got by the raging Rio Grande in the pics~ and that's good ol' Mexico on the other side!

this day was pretty dang cold…we were all bundled up on the walk in, and almost ready to back out {of having to change, get wet, and change back} but the springs are tucked away nicely + and it was much warmer than expected. and the water is always 104 degrees or so…an amazing natural hot tub!!! the "ruins" above are located by the parking lot, we thought we'd be safe from the wind for a little picnic…it was a good idea, but we still got blasted. after our snack we headed off to terlingua!
we LOVE terlingua, too >>> a "ghost town" located right outside of BB park. it's an old mining town, and there isn't much left other than LaKiva {a magical cave bar}…a few places to stay, the Starlight Theatre, a few shops~ my favorite is Quilts by Marguerite…we call her "mother quilt", a graveyard, and a general store. i'm sure i'm missing something, but those are the spots we hit up! this tiny baby town has a quirky vibe, and i believe you either love or hate it. we choose LOVE. viva terlingua!
ps. that goat above…used to be the mayor, like for real. and he would drink beers.

we had dinner at the Starlight Theatre ~ a spot you must check out. there's always something going on...it was a wednesday and there was some fun live music. once the sun went down the temp dropped fast, i wish we could have spent more time walking around + exploring…but we had to get back to camp. what a fun day!!!!
and here are some of my   t r e a s u r e s  from our west texas adventure !!

the end.
until next time, you sexy desert.

Big Bend Back Country...

here~ we FINALLY arrived in the magical {cold} desert !!! we originally wanted to stay at our favorite camp site from last time, but River Road East was shut down bc of all the rain. another bummer. but! that led us on a little adventure through the park, a ruins find, a rad hat purchase, and then eventually to a new favorite spot, Glenn Springs. so, cool…there we were…in the middle of nowhere…kinda tucked down in a valley…which would hopefully keep us a bit warmer. LET THE ADVENTURING BEGIN!!!!!

{{ when you arrive at the park you talk with a ranger about where to stay, and you book a spot for however many nights. one camp spot typically can't see any others, they're all spread out and tucked away…giving you privacy and free roam. also, getting there is a bit of a hunt. all of the back country spots are really remote and involve an intense drive. like shake the whole car, so many rocks, up and down, a little woozy, long drive. stefan even let me drive some, and we videoed a lot! }}

once camp is set up, there's really not much to do but chill + explore. so that's what we did for the next couple days. we found a few creeks, stumbled across a random rock cemetery {pretty crazy}, stared at the stars {my fave part, you can see the milky way!} made our way to the hot springs + into terlingua, drank our fair share of wine, took lots of pics, i chit chatted stefans face off + we cuddled to stay warm!
ps. stefan also beat me @ farkle way too many times…not cool, man.

this camping part was a bit shorter than last time. {i think poor planning and mother nature take a big part in that} so we left a day early because it was TOO cold… like mid 30's with crazy wind! i guess we could have stayed in the tent all day, but we opted to go home and that was just fine. next time, big bend…sunny skies + clear water + sun burns…its on!!!

i'll do one more post soon with pics from the hot springs and our little trip to terlingua. stay tuned, friends!!!
